The latest issue of Hi-Fi+ rounds up the 'Best of the Best'. The finest audio components that you can buy, their recommendations for world class system components features Aquarius.
"The Aquarius power conditioner takes IsoTek's ever popular GII Minisub (no longer made) and pimps things to the max. It features the companie's EVO3 technology, and auto-sensing filter that adapts to the current draw and divides between a pair of 16A sockets for power products and four 5A sockets for sources and preamps, all isolated from one another. Add a new choke for even greater power regulation and you have something that raises the game for hi-fi."
Hi-Fi+ is a bi-monthly magazine that is serious about hi-fi, and is very much the audiophile enthusiasts’ magazine with its own very elitist and specialist readership. The magazine reaches an audience of discerning high-fidelity purists with significant purchasing power. Hi-fi+ sells globally, with direct subscribers, from Moscow to Adelaide, Tokyo to Buenos Aires, and Los Angeles to Berlin. Shelf sales are concentrated in North America and Europe but Australia and Japan are a growing market for the magazine.
This months issue of Hi-Fi World features Aquarius as part of the magazines ‘World Standards’ recommendations. These are the best products they’ve heard that are currently on sale. Hi-Fi World Comment:
“Highly accomplished premium priced mains conditioner that delivers the sonic goods, unlike so many others.”
The IsoTek Aquarius is the ONLY mains conditioner featured as part of ‘World Standards’. This further reinforces IsoTek as a brand leader in the field of high quality mains products which improve the performance of all audio equipment, unlike so many others!
Aquarius has already gained class-leading status in the UK’s audio press. Previous comments include:
“The whole auditioning process took about 30 seconds. Play a piece of music on GII Mini Sub. Play it again on Aquarius and wonder why you were so attached to the GII Mini Sub... Very highly recommended.”
“The lift in performance is quite remarkable.”
“Aquarius was able to more easily follow the voice as it moved up and down the frequencies during the vibrato sequence and do it more effectively than the older Mini Sub I had on hand for reference too. The greater clarity and enhanced, background of the Aquarius allowed the voice to be properly tracked for the first time.” “The fact that the IsoTek Aquarius revealed previously unheard details from my familiar LPs says it all.”
In simple terms, Syncro is IsoTek’s most advanced mains cable – but it’s also so much more. The cable incorporates innovative electronics, housed in an anti-resonant aluminium case positioned part way down its length.
Syncro is not a mains conditioner or filter in the accepted sense. It can be used on its own to power a single hi-fi component, and will bring significant improvements if used in this way. However, it is primarily designed as a ‘pre-filter’ device – for best results, plug the Syncro into a wall socket and use it to power an IsoTek (or other) mains conditioning unit. Thus, Syncro takes the mains electricity supply and realigns its waveform, prior to filtration of contaminants (RFI/EMI etc.) by the conditioning unit, which then feeds each hi-fi component – thus improving the performance of every link in the audio chain.
Syncro also removes a problem which is sometimes referred to as ‘DC on the mains’. In terms of audio equipment, it is often signified by a buzzing sound emitted by a transformer in a power amplifier. Of course, this buzz is extremely distracting but in addition, the mechanical vibration within the power transformer, created by core saturation, results in microphony in the internal components, leading to further degradation of sound quality. Most of the DC-related issues suffered by audio systems are brought into being by the electrical devices we own, directly ‘rectifying’ the mains from AC to DC (where a diode is used in series to allow either the positive or negative cycle of the mains sine wave to pass). The use of switch-mode power supplies exacerbates the problem, introducing measurable mains distortion. These devices create a lack of symmetry in the mains sine wave where it is displaced from the zero voltage line, leading to the aforementioned hum that’s often noticeable from power amplifiers, as the DC voltage saturates the core of the transformers with DC current. This, in turn, generates unwanted mechanical vibration, resulting in audible noise and microphony, and increased power consumption and heat.
Syncro’s synchronising effect results in greater bass depth, improved timing, a reduction in the noise floor and a more palpable sound overall. Furthermore, these improvements don’t come at the expense of dynamic ability; in fact, in some cases dynamics are considerably improved. This can be explained by the fact that at zero volume, many power amplifiers consume less power in idle. The Syncro helps the amplifier to consume less electricity, freeing up power for dynamic transients. A simple analogy is a car that is free running, as opposed to having the brakes slightly engaged.
Due to Syncro's high amperage it can be safely used on all products including power amps without reducing dynamics.Download
The IsoTek GII Vision has once again been awarded the maximum star rating in What Hi-Fi? 'Ultimate Guide To Television 2010', the magazine comments:
"Hook the IsoTek up to a TV and the difference is immediate. Picture noise is reduced, while with DVD players picture and sound are better - and on a sub £3000 Hi-Fi system, the sound becomes smother, gaining an extra resolution. Bass authority in particular grows without any trade-off in terms of articulation."
"This IsoTek is one of the most cost-effective home cinema upgrades there is."
